About Miss Christy
I love teaching children! I’ve been teaching my own 6 children with my husband, Adam for the last 28 years and it truly is my passion! Teaching has always been a huge part of my personal, professional and spiritual life.
I also love spending time with my family! We love to eat out, play games, go to the theater to see any Broadway musical, go boating, spend time in Island Park at our family cabin, and spend time in California where we lived for over 20 years. I personally love to run, water ski, snow ski, hike, dance, and hang out with my husband!

The mission of Shining Stars is to strengthen students, build confidence, and instill a love of learning in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment. Children learn best when they are actively engaged: playing, exploring, creating, and interacting with the world around them. My goal is to create a space where every child can grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. At Shining Stars, every child shines bright!
Mission, Philosophy, & Aim
One of my own children' s wise teachers once said, “Children spell ‘love’ T-I-M-E!” And I completely agree! Shining Stars preschool is a place where we spend quality time helping children grow. Growth is encouraged and many behavior issues are avoided in a fun, safe, and positive environment where children feel loved and valued, the curriculum and activities are intentional, the classroom structure has smooth transitions, and expectations are clear.
Class Environment & Expectations
Drop-off & Pick-up
For the safety of the children and to keep traffic flowing smoothly:
Please do not park in my driveway.
Please park next to my curb by pulling forward to the end of my property line, heading north, to accommodate as many vehicles as possible.
Please be considerate of my neighbors by not blocking their driveways
Drop-off
My front door will be unlocked when it is time for preschool to start. Please help your child arrive safely by having your child exit through the car door next to my curb or by walking your child to my sidewalk. Then, your child can walk up to my front door and walk into my house. As your child enters, he or she will be greeted in my front room. After all the children have arrived, I will lock my front door. Please text me if your child will not be attending.
Pick-up
Please be considerate about picking up your child on time when preschool ends. I will also do my best to have the preschoolers ready to leave on time. When school ends, I will bring the children outside and wait on the front porch until you are parked in front of my house and have a car door open next to the curb or you are standing on the sidewalk ready to greet your child. Once your child’s name is called, he or she will give me a goodbye and will be excused to leave the porch to meet you. Winter: If you are parked next to the snow-covered grass and don’t want your child to walk through the snow, please meet your child at my driveway to walk him or her to your car. Please text me if someone else will be picking up your child.
Thanks for following these procedures to help keep the preschoolers safe!
Tuition Information
Tuition is based on a set amount for the school year and is due on the first preschool day of the month (September-May). You can pay with a check or through Venmo. Tuition reimbursements will not be granted for days your child misses preschool. If you choose to withdraw your child from preschool, I require payment for at least two weeks from the time you notify me. If I receive a returned check, you will be responsible for paying the fee.
Please contact me if you have any questions, are interested in registering, or would like to place your child on my waitlist! I reserve the right to update policies as needed.
Field Trips
We will have two or three field trips per school year. We will meet at the specified location. Your child must be accompanied by an adult to attend. Rather than charging a field trip fee at the time of preschool registration, if there is a small fee for attending the field trip, it will not be covered by the monthly tuition amount. Field trips will replace the normal preschool day.
Birthdays
A spotlight page will be sent home before the child’s day of celebration. On the day of celebration, the child can bring the spotlight page, a favorite toy, a favorite book to read, and a treat to share.
Show & Tell
When your child is the show and tell helper, a tag will be attached to his or her backpack. You can follow the instructions on the tag and fill the backpack with the requested items. Pre-packaged snacks are welcome but not required. Show and tell is always a favorite! It helps strengthen confidence, language skills, and social interaction.
Illness
I take great care to provide a clean preschool environment. I wipe down the bathroom, doorknobs, and tables before each preschool session. We wash our hands at the beginning of preschool, after using the restroom, and after nose wiping. To prevent the spread of illness, please do not send your child to preschool if he or she is contagious. For most illnesses, your child can return to preschool 24-48 hours after being symptom-free and/or on medication. Since certain symptoms can linger for weeks after an illness, please refer to your doctor for specific guidelines for each illness. Tuition reimbursement will not be granted for your child not attending.
Safety
I take great care to provide a safe environment by implementing drop-off, safety, and pick-up procedures during the preschool day. If an accident or injury occurs on the premises, Christy Dayton and Shining Stars LLC will not be held liable for insurance claims or bills related to the injury.
